Job Purpose

The Sophos UX organization is seeking a UX Designer to join our UX organization. This position is based in Burlington, Massachusetts (near Boston). This position reports directly to the North American UX manager, as part of a large UX organization.

Sophos is looking for a UX designer to join our North American UX team. You will work directly with our senior UX designers on multiple projects, and work as an embedded resource for a product area. Your main focus will be Interaction Design (IxD), Information Architecture (IA), and Visual Design (VD). You will collaborate with matrixed UX resources from our Shared UX Services. Sophos has a suite of cybersecurity products serving technically deep users as well as everyday end-users that require extraordinary UX design to bring together consistency of experience, ease of access to information and functionality, as well as intuitive interaction.

 

Main Duties

 

  • Collaborate with senior UX designers, and a matrixed team of UX content, UX Research and Evaluation, Visual Design, Product Management (PM), Quality Assurance (QA), and Development (Dev) to deliver UX design for multiple products.
  • Design within the Sophos UX design guidelines, standards, and libraries.
  • Contribute innovative and valuable solutions to Sophos UX design standards
  • Facilitate the user-centered design process. Create the IxD task and workflows, IA hierarchical models, user scenarios, sketches, storyboards, icons, illustrations, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, etc. to support great UX in product development.
  • Work iteratively to design, refine, and validate visual design solutions.  Graciously incorporate feedback to improve your designs.
  • Maintain awareness of current UX design trends, bring new techniques and new direction into product design.
  • Complete complex assignments, working on problems of moderate scope and developing solutions.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Within the first 1-4 years out of school.
  • Appropriate degrees and/or experience in UX Design (psychology, human-computer interaction, interaction design, information architecture, etc.)
  • Work samples / portfolio showing your ability to contribute to UX Design on complex products.
  • Work within and contribute to the Sophos Design System.
  • Ability to design for persona-driven user populations.
  • Ability to contribute to user insights from participation in research and evaluation.
  • Experience with enterprise-complexity products is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud-based SaaS products a plus.
  • Experience working with remote team members in multiple disciplines across multiple time zones a plus.
  •  You do not need to already know cybersecurity. But experience in cybersecurity products is a plus. You will learn and become very familiar with cybersecurity as part of your job.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts in order to be able to make them intuitive to users.
  • You need to enjoy making complex things simple for users of all kinds.
