What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain company intellectual protections and processes, including patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, licensing and research agreements.
  • Assist in developing training materials and providing trainings to the business on relevant topics such as patents and trademarks.
  • Support the company’s Patent Review Committee in the selection of inventions and prosecution of patents.
  • Responsible for pre-patent filing review, providing legal advice to the company concerning protection of inventions and the advisability of filling patent applications.
  • Provide legal advice and represent the company in matters relating to intellectual property law.
  •  Support IP due diligence in M&A transactions.
  • Provide guidance, training, and assistance to the other legal team members as needed.
  • Evaluate third-party claims and conduct potential infringement analyses.
  • Help manager threatened and pending litigation and third-party discovery requests.
  • Negotiate and resolve potential disputes in a pragmatic way.
  • Handle special projects as requested.


What You Will Bring

  •  Strong academic credentials including J.D. degree and membership in one state bar.
  • 10+ years combined experience in well-regarded law firm and/or in-house legal department. Prior in-house legal experience with a global high-tech company preferred.
  • 7-10 years drafting and prosecuting applications.
  • Ability to lead and work on department projects as needed.
  •  Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to successfully interact with senior management, and to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients.
  • Self-starter with ability to execute tasks efficiently with sound business judgement and attention to detail.
  • Excellent legal and business judgement.
  • Excellent drafting sills and attention to detail.
