Job Purpose:

As a Software Developer in Test in the Network Security Group, you will design, implement, and maintain the automated tests for our firewall products that’s used by thousands of customers around the world. You will be working closely with Developers as well as Quality Assurance Analysts on an Agile development team and be involved in all aspects of the software development process.

This role provides a great opportunity to learn about network and cyber security and threats on the internet. The team has a healthy ‘continuous improvement’ mentality, so there will also be opportunities to try out new technologies and processes.

This position is based at our Canadian office in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Main Duties:

  • Design, implement, maintain automated test cases and test framework
  • Design and develop reliable, maintainable, high-quality code
  • Create and improve automation tooling to improve efficiency
  • Diagnose and correct automation failures that may require intimate product knowledge
  • Participate in project planning activities with the entire team
  • Work with the team to understand and refine product requirements
  • Work with QA Analysts to help define test ideas and ensure features are properly tested
  • Provide mentorship and consultation to the team on automation best practices
  • Participate in test strategy design and code reviews

Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Test Automation role
  • Experience with Perl or similar scripting languages
  • Experience with Selenium to automate web application tests
  • Experience executing/writing Test Automation that performs actions such as: HTTP Requests/Responses, query of remote databases, access and execute commands on external systems/VMs
  • Ability to interface with Linux systems using the command line interface
  • Outstanding software design, coding, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to prioritize, focus and drive tasks to completion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong team player who prioritizes achieving goals as a team
  • Sense of humor and a willingness to have fun


  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
  • Working knowledge of different networking protocols (e.g. HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, TCP/IP)
  • Ability and willingness to multi-task and learn new technologies quickly
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Software or equivalent
