Employment Legal Counsel - EMEA

 

Job Purpose

We are searching for an experienced, pragmatic attorney to join our legal team to work on employment law matters arising in EMEA.

 

This is a fixed term contract role for 6 months and will be based in the UK. Part-time and full-time employment will be considered.

 

Main Duties 

  • Provide practical and timely advice to the business on employment law matters, with specialist expertise in Europe. 
  • Advise the business on matters involving the Works Councils in Germany, Austria and France. 
  • Draft and update core global employment templates including offer letters, employment contracts and confidentiality agreements. 
  • Develop and improve global employment policies and procedures.  
  • Update, draft and negotiate agreements for consultants, recruitment companies and employment agencies. 
  • Advise the business on pandemic related matters impacting upon employees.
  • Support merger, acquisition, restructuring and integration activities.  
  • Engage with external counsel on matters related to employment litigation. 
  • Provide focused, commercially driven legal advice to the business on employee relations issues including recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, compensation, long-term illness and other absence, termination of employment, disciplinary and grievance issues and other matters.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Legal Dept and with relevant internal groups including HR, Finance, and others. 

 

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • UK qualified mid-level solicitor.
  • In-house experience of advising on employment law matters arising in Europe and other jurisdictions.
  • Experience of providing pragmatic and commercial advice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to execute tasks efficiently with sound business judgment and attention to detail.
  • Experience of managing and prioritizing a complex workload.
