Scope

Region: France, BLX, SOE.  Role to be based, Paris, France (although may consider other associated location with relevant experience)

Business Units: All (Sales, Engineering, Labs, GFA, Technical Support)

Job Purpose

Responsible for driving people programs and operations to align with corporate and cultural goals across a diverse region and client group.  HR’s activities are designed to support the business goals, values and guiding principles that continuously drive Sophos’ considerable momentum in the market. 

The role manages all people related matters, to provide full life-cycle HR support, including employee relations, performance management, organizational design and efficiency, L&D, compensation planning and program delivery. The role is considered the SME for the region delivering legally compliant HR practices across the various countries.

As a key member of the broader EMEA HR team; the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders to establish business strategy and cascade and collaborate effectively with (virtual) HR teams and third-parties to execute the people agenda is essential. Further, as part of the global HR team that focuses on delivering results in an innovative, simple and highly-effective way; actively participate to design, drive and/or deliver various corporate HR programs that will help establish Sophos’ HR solutions as ‘best in class’.

Main Duties

  • Organisation & Design
    • Provide expert insight into people and organizational issues across the region. Translate business strategies and issues into appropriate HR and organizational actions;
    • Build relationships with leadership and develop a strong understanding of their global business, their goals and challenges
    • Design and support change management programs in line with the business goals
    • Understand the people plan for your business units, including hiring needs, succession, career progression, gap analysis; working with Talent Acquisition to support hiring/onboarding.
  • Employee Engagement
    • Lead or support activities to maintain a healthy and productive work environment, such as proactively building relationships with employees, and resolving employee relations issues
    • Contribute to HR analytics and look for ways to make use of data to improve efficiency, enhance employee experience and predict outcomes.
    • Develop and provide employee and business balanced analysis of trends, with a view to identify drivers for change and opportunities for continuous improvement within the business groups 
    • Work with local management and employee groups and the global HR team to identify, implement and manage local initiatives in response to the annual Employee Opinion Survey
  • Labor Relations
    • Support delivery of life-cycle or programmatic HR solutions, supporting the business leaders to navigate effectively relevant Labor Relations (workers council, local law) aspects
    • Design and champion HR processes, policies and new initiatives from the ground up
    • Ensure all local HR related compliance requirements are met
  • Culture, Value and Guiding Principles
    • Proactively support the Company’s Values, Culture and Behavioural initiatives, such as Inclusion and Diversity, employee recognition, effective employee engagement activities, etc, so that they are embedded in everything Sophos does.
    • Influence leaders and emplyees to drive our core values across their teams and ensure talent output aligns to company goals
    • Be a key member of the global People & Culture team helping to develop world-class people programs and capabilities
    • Lead diversity, inclusion programs, and required reporting, e.g. gender gap, ethnicity, and demographics
    • Provide coaching and, where appropriate, hands on, support to managers across a broad range of HR topics, ensuring local culture and legislation are understood and applied whilst achieving the required business results
  • Employee Life-Cycle
    • Provide day-to-day coaching and guidance to line management on areas such as Performance Management, Career development and Employee Welfare
    • Diverse range of managing different Employee Relations matters, including under-performance, change management, and general D&G matters
  • Program Management
    • Work with our COE teams (i.e. Talent acquisition, L&D, C&B, Comms, Legal) to develop value-add HR initiatives that support the Company’s Values, Goals and cultural behaviours.
    • Drive or be ‘part of’ global and local change programs that are handled in a well-considered and well communicated way; examples include; review/revision of best practice HR policies, continuous development of our new HRIS system and other HR tools and practices, supporting cross department programs (e.g. payroll, finance, legal), being part of or driving various key programs
    • Support the annual salary review process across your business units including participation in remuneration panels, recommendations and analysis of outcomes in line with global process
    • Drive the effectiveness of the performance review process, providing coaching and support to managers (e.g. driving calibration sessions, engaging high performance mentality, etc)

Experience

Eessential:

  • Minimum 8 years HRBP experience of which 3+ years’ experience of HR management across WER
  • Previous experience of working in an international business, proven to participate as a member of business-wide HR & management team
  • Proven experience as a HR Partner in an environment where change is the norm.
  • Evidence of managing the employee life-cycle and related policies and practices
  • Evidence of being able to support change with pragmatic legal and best practice advice to managers and leaders – able to explain the rationale and show the value, rather than just recite policy or law.
  • Proven experience of managing priorities based on business needs
  • Proven background of delivery in a complex and fast-paced international work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and to build strong relationships, working with a variety of personalities, management levels and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability of driving initiatives and activities to successful completion

Desirable:

  • Project management experience

    • Expertise in designing, and implementation of, policies; including drafting, reviewing, identifying labor relations landscape associated with roll out, agreement and engagement
    • Show agility in a constantly changing environment and ability to cultivate strong relationships globally
