Job Purpose

The HR Manager is part of the overall Asia Pacific and Japan HR Team. Based in Makati City, this position is responsible for delivering robust and proactive HR service and support for the Region, with a primary focus for activities in the Philippines.  This include partnering with leaders at various levels within the organization to coach, support and provide guidance on organizational structure, as well as implementing annual HR programs such as: performance reviews, merit reviews, succession planning, and action plans resulting from employee surveys. He/she will also support global HR projects and activities that impact the region.


The HR Manager must be able to work collaboratively and take a hands-on approach, he/she will deliver scalable, customer-focused HR programs and services to the business; implementing them in a way that ensures that the program goals are accomplished while meeting the business needs. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to manage change and support a fast pace organization.


Main Duties

Ensure compliance with Company policies including those governing disciplinary, attendance, grievance, discrimination, harassment and health and safety regulation requirements.  Ensuring policies and procedures are applied fairly for both the business and individual
Partner with and coaches front line managers and senior leaders in a dynamic and evolving business
Partner with the COE’s: Compensation & Benefits, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development teams in rolling out global programs and initiative
Participates in the development of HR programs to support the ongoing growth and capability
Work with necessary managers on process improvement related to projects and processes and will be the primary HRIS subject matter expert
Monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement and to proactively address issues and risk
Ensures effective communication of Company-wide and local initiatives and decisions, drawing on the site leadership team to deliver this, as well as individual communication of outcomes 
Partners with key stakeholders to deliver and lead effective career development, employee relations, compliance, retention and reward programs trainings and education
Proactively coaches and educates managers on resolving employee relations issues. Works with more HR senior team members for guidance on the issues that have a high risk or impact on individual/business
Work in a fast-paced environment which demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solution
Analyse, designs and maintains site-level Human Resources intranet (HUB), reports, statistics, trends 
Manage the benefits program locally and provide information and guidance to employees
Manage the annual salary review process across the business units (including grading reviews & promotions) including the remuneration panels, recommendation and analysis of outcomes in line with agreed global process and framework 
Implement and manage initiatives locally in response to the annual Employee Opinion Survey in agreement with the RVP and aligned to the global response
Ensure that all changes / material facts are documented/recorded and ensure that all correspondence and material is professional, accurate and complies with local legal obligations and Sophos standards
Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure a smooth and seamless recruitment and on boarding process for new hires 
Ensure that recognition and engagement activities within the country take place, taking responsibility for overseeing the organisation of such events as needed
A tactical hands-on, “roll up the sleeves” approach with the ability to think strategically
Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement

Skills & Experience


7+ years' experience in an HR generalist or HR manager role
University degree in Human Resource Management/Business or equivalent experience
Familiar with Employment laws in the Philippine
Strong project/program management skills, with the ability to obtain buy-in and then drive execution
Experience with employee relations, change management and team development
Excellent communication, coaching, planning/project management skills and presentation skill
Experience with metrics and fact-based decision making
Resilient and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high level of energy and sense of humour
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
