Job Purpose

We are looking for a UX designer to join our Marketing Team to create world-class web designs for Sophos.com and other web properties. Your work will be viewed by millions across the globe and you’ll work with a small, collaborative team to create and enforce design standards, think of new ways to present content, and explore animation to enliven our websites. This position can be full-time remote but U.S. time zone is preferred.

 

Main Duties

  • Translate user, product and business requirements into simple and intuitive interfaces
  • Design product UX in close collaboration with product managers and development teams
  • Conduct research to inform design decisions. Work with our researcher to plan and execute research projects, drawing on research from various areas of the business: analytics, customer insight, internal experts, interviews and competitor analysis
  • Designing and briefing usability testing sessions and, if needed, running sessions
  • Leading collaborative design workshops
  • Information architecture
  • Mapping customer and user journeys
  • Sketching, concept creation and wireframing
  • Creating interactive prototypes

 

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • At least four years of experience doing web/UX design.
  • Experience using modern design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar. We use Figma and you will be expected to learn to use that tool if you are not familiar with it.
  • A deep understanding of design principles such as information architecture, visual hierarchy, use of typography, layout design, web design constraints, responsive design, and usability considerations.
  • Proficient in speaking and writing English, and able to communicate clearly and do presentations in front of others.
  • Ability to work remotely and be effective in getting work done quickly and at high quality.
  • A passion for pixel perfection and refining the details in a body of design work.
  • Mastery of wireframe and prototyping tools
  • You’ll need to work with visual designers, developers, product owners and technical architects to define product experience and champion the user.

Desired:

  • A four-year college degree in any technical, scientific, or human factors field.
  • Experience designing web, mobile, and native application UIs.
  • Familiarity with front-end web code like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Extensive use of, and the ability to create design systems.
