Role Summary


The Cloud Optimization Engineer is closely aligned with finance and Managed Threat Response software development to ensure our cloud spend and usage is optimized. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of optimizing cloud technologies, writing scripts, spreadsheets, and experience working with large development teams As a key member of the FinOps initiative, you will work side by side with application owners, developers, and business executives to drive cloud optimization in one of the fastest growing offerings in the company. Success in this role is characterized by providing the visibility and tracking into technology costs and optimization projects for the Managed Threat Response platform.


What You Will Do

  • Build, maintain, and improve system activity and cost models using scripts and Microsoft Excel
  • Create cost optimization models with engineering teams that are utilizing cloud services
  • Advise software engineering teams on cloud infrastructure best practices to optimize expenses
  • Automate extraction of key financial usage data from AWS tools and APIs
  • Develop strategies to maximize resource utilization and minimize waste
  • Provide reports and forecasts for leadership and executive teams


What You Will Bring


  • Deep knowledge in public and private cloud technologies – AWS strongly preferred
  • Experience at script language development, preferably Python or Ruby
  • Proficient with data structuring languages, including CSV and JSON
  • Experience with agile development methodologies, rapid application development, and project management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including visual presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in research data collection, analysis, and presentation



  • Extensive experience building on, troubleshooting, and optimizing AWS services
  • Experience with AWS billing, cost management tools, and best practices
  • Understanding software development in a DevOps culture
  • Experience creating and managing projects in revision control, including git and Github
  • Understanding of cloud reservations, savings plans, and commitment classifications
