Role Summary

As a member of the Sophos Central Platform development team, the Senior Software Engineer works closely with software engineers, architects, product management and others to design and build the Sophos Central platform vision.  This role involves working with engineering and product management leaders across Sophos Central.


What You Will Do

  • Strong technical leadership skills and a proven track record of working in high performing teams.
  • Build new product features in Sophos Central that our customers love.
  • Own your modules and be responsible for their operational uptime in production.
  • Assist in delivering public APIs to simplify management of large accounts.
  • Design software using modern design patterns and microservices architecture.
  • Write backend code in Java or other languages.
  • Build user interface using Angular or other JavaScript frameworks, as required
  • Write automated unit and integration tests to execute within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Take pride in authorship of code and hold your teammates to equally high standards.
  • Partner with UX, PM, DevOps, QA, and other developers.
  • Work with best of breed Cloud technologies.
  • Learn new technologies and skills and apply them to your work.
  • Work in an Agile environment, releasing software frequently.


What You Will Bring

  • 7+ years of software development in Java, C#, or other object-oriented languages.
  • Hands on experience designing and implementing cloud-based platforms
  • Experience creating scalable systems and services, including demonstrated understanding of best practices for API design and overall platform design considerations such as auth, messaging, logging, monitoring and testability.
  • Ability to create automated unit tests and integration tests.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with commitment to deliver on sprint goals.
  • Customer focus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
