Role Summary

The Data Platform group is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to help us with the ever-growing backlog of reports, analytics, and product/application telemetry, as well as help us define product success metrics and KPIs. The Sophos Data platform is innovative, cutting edge, and is constantly evolving; it is foundational for all Sophos Next Gen products, large scale innovation, and state-of-the-art cyber security solutions. As a Data Analyst, you will have a full view of data flows across cloud platforms and associated processing, products, and new innovations.  You will work with a global team of engineers, architects, and product managers in an environment of fast learning, high energy, and constant evolution.

What you will do

  • Naturally curious - comfortable with using online forums and tools to learn and discover
  • Quick learner - want to learn something new every day
  • Self-starter - take initiative and do more than what is being asked; track tasks in Jira, set delivery dates
  • Independent thinker - ask the next question, find a clever method or algorithm
  • Multi-tasker – comfortable with context switching and overlapping priorities (this is steady state here)
  • Data geek - here we use this term with highest respect - understand the data, find patterns, find inconsistencies and gaps
  • SQL expert - along with basic operations, you should be familiar with window functions
  • Familiar with Scripting - Python, Bash, etc.

What you will bring

  • Conceptual thinker - understand the concepts and translate them into data questions
  • Data modeler - enjoy playing with multiple schemas, across products and services, to find connections or disconnects (and ways to connect them)
  • Data Presenter - analyze not just the questions, but the answers, then figure out ways to present and visualize the data so that the answers are obvious
  • Automator - find and analyze patterns, then code generic automations (so that you don't have to do the same thing over and over, because who would want that?)
