Lead Finance Business Partner M&A

Job Purpose:

The key objective of the position is to be the primary point of contact in the Group finance Team for evaluation and modelling of both M&A opportunities and the Group’s spend with hosting services providers, such as Amazon Web Services.  The jobholder will also become involved in other Finance projects as required. 

This role involves interface on a day-to-day basis with: the Senior Vice President Finance, the CFO; members of the Senior Management Team; and, the other global finance departments as required. 


The role involves liaison with the Finance Leadership Team and the Senior Management Team.  The jobholder is responsible for both the provision of timely and accurate information, and the maintenance of relationships with all senior employees of the company.  Specific responsibilities will include:


Main Duties:

  • Support of product business teams in relation to evaluation of potential targets.
  • Modelling target acquisitions.
  • Support of and participation in buy / no-buy decisions
  • Support of and participation in financial due-diligence processes.
  • Post-acquisition financial integration work.
  • Post-acquisition objective evaluation.
  • Manage in their entirety the planning and forecasting processes around hosting costs
  • Ensure the business delivers to the planning and forecasting timetable and provide all the necessary data collection tools
  • Ensure stakeholders are fully informed before, during and after the process is complete
  • Subsequently the individual should be able to explain variances to the actual results; and will be responsible for financial internal reporting. 
  • Work with the SVP of Product to support the management from a financial perspective of the circa $30 million of annual spend on hosting costs; including but not limited to support in the negotiation of contractual changes.
  • Propose, agree and help implement enhancements to processes and controls to provide better administration of the costs incurred.
  • Interface closely with the Financial Control Team on a regular basis to enhance the processing of actual transactions, the financial control environment and the linkage with forecasting and actual results.
  • Provide regular financial updated to the SVP Finance and CFO reviews.
  • On behalf of the Finance Team, ensure the provision of consistent, high quality financial business partnering support for projects across the Group’s Finance function as required.
  • Participate in work streams contributing to successful Commercial Finance project deliveries.  Work closely with internal management and external stakeholders on data collection, verification and modelling.
  • Examples may include: ERP related projects; debt refinancing; and, supporting the delivery of new internal systems.
  • Contribute to Finance work streams that improve the business.
  • Assist in adhoc reporting activities as required.
  • Assist other finance departments as required.
  • Provide support and guidance to the wider finance team as required.


Skills & Experience:


  • MBA or CPA preferred, with a Commercial Finance background
  • Minimum of 7 years post qualification experience
  • Previous planning department experience preferably in a quoted company environment
  • Excellent communication skills / inter-personal skills and influencing skills
  • Experience of working with senior management teams
  • Experience of provision of business partnering
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Financial modelling skills
  • Drive and determination
  • Strong communication, inter-personal skills and influencing skills are an important attribute in running a busy function in accordance with strict timetables, whilst implementing changes and dealing with adhoc matters and issues as they arise
  • Keen interest in a high-quality response to the function’s customers
