Role Summary 

The Global Sourcing Director will report to the Vice President of Global Sourcing & Real Estate and will have key responsibility for all aspects of global sourcing for Sophos.  This includes partnering with all internal business units and Shared Services teams (including Technology, Product, Finance, HR, Marketing, etc) to identify needs, understand the market to determine appropriate sources of supply and baselining the current state.  This person is also responsible for leading the Global Sourcing team in developing the sourcing strategy, and overseeing and leading the competitive process (i.e. RFP, RFx, Auctions, etc.), supplier selection, and negotiation.  Also, they will partner with Shared Service organizations (i.e. Legal, ISRM, Privacy, Insurance, Finance, etc.) in onboarding, contracting, etc.  They will also be responsible for developing and implementing category and sourcing strategies.  

Most importantly, the person will be responsible for leading and developing the sourcing individuals on their team, and helping them grow personally and professionally.

The right candidate will have excellent leadership and teamwork skills and partnering ability with multiple departments and stakeholders, as well as being able to present and communicate effectively (both oral and written) with all levels of management.  They will be expected to develop strong working relationships with the business and other back office departments. 

What You Will Do

•    Responsible for setting Global Sourcing strategy for the company
•    Leading and developing the team members in the organization, and helping them to grow in their careers
•    Leading the transformation from a reactive, tactical, event-driven function to a proactive, strategic forward-looking team that is viewed favorably within the company
•    Developing and leading category strategies
•    Responsible as a “player manager”, including leading the sourcing in particular categories as needed, including Cloud, SaaS, Hosting, Data Services, tools, applications, etc.
•    Develop close working relationships at all levels within Sophos in order to stay aware of the strategic direction, and how third parties fit into that, with the purpose of being able to find solutions that meet their needs
•    Understand and research the technology & product industry so you remain aware of best practices, leading suppliers, benchmark best practices, etc.
•    Partner with Shared Service organizations to manage onboarding, contracting and negotiations with suppliers as efficiently and effectively as possible
•    Lead regular business reviews with key suppliers
•    Create approval decks and contract summaries for obtaining internal buy-in
•    Work closely with Sophos business partners and their teams to lead all sourcing related activities to bring significant value for the business
•    Drive savings and SUM (Spend Under Management) for your areas of responsibility
•    Work cross functionally with global and regional counterparts
•    Provide monthly forecast of projected savings
•    Negotiate remediations with suppliers, when necessary
•    Develop a thorough knowledge of company operations, policies, and procedures
•    Manage highly confidential and critical information

What You Will Bring

•    15+ years of strategic sourcing and category management expertise 
•    10+ years of Leadership and Strategy development
•    4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience
•    Direct experience negotiating agreements across all managed categories
•    An understanding of the economics of the industries we source in and support
•    Ability to view all categories in a strategic context, and to implement those strategies
•    Partnership and relationship management expertise with business units and Corporate functions
•    Problem solving, negotiation and analytical skills
•    Excellent reading comprehension and the ability to understand complex contracts
•    Strong written and oral communication experience 
•    Presentation experience to large audiences and executive leaders
•    Able to work across cultures effectively, valuing diversity within a virtual team
•    Track record of performance
