Are you interested in joining a team responsible for researching and developing cybersecurity products that are actively used to protect millions of customers every single day? Are you interested in developing high-performance tooling to support big data and machine-learning projects that daily processes TBs of new intelligence data?  

The Sophos Artificial Intelligence (AI) group is looking for a Software Engineer, Data to join our team. This position focuses on developing and supporting AWS cloud-based big data tooling and analytics that is used to research, deploy, and monitor our machine-learning technology.  
 

Sophos AI reports directly to the CTO and is responsible for developing and maintaining all the major machine-learning cybersecurity technology currently deployed by Sophos. Our work has been profiled in major academic, industry conferences, and publications. As a member of our fast-growing team, you will become a vital team member responsible for running some of the most critical and high-profile systems at Sophos, with ample room to grow. 

 


 

What We are Looking For 

  • 2-3 years experience in Computer Science with a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and their computational complexities. 

  • Experience designing and building robust distributed systems. 

  • Strong understanding of large scale analytical relational engines (SQL) and NoSQL databases. Knowledge of AWS Redshift or Snowflake is a plus. 

  • Experience in developing pipelines using big data technologies (Spark, Hive, Flink, Airflow etc.) 

  • Experience working with cloud technologies. Knowledge of AWS technologies is a plus. 

  • Proficiency with Python and complex SQL. 

  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and working in machine learning teams are a plus. 

  • Experience or knowledge in cybersecurity is a plus. 

  • Experience with agile methodologies and tools like git and Jira. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 

  • Have a strong opinion on how to get things better, and you are not afraid to share it 

  • Excited about working independently and learning new technologies and frameworks.  

  • Fluency in English
