Role Summary

We seek a top performing technical leader with the passion, experience and willingness to motivate and lead multiple agile teams of talented SDEs and SDETs developing Sophos’ next-generation email products. The Development Manager works closely with Senior team leadership and Product Management teams to define and execute the Sophos Email vision. In addition, this role involves networking with other development teams across Sophos.

 

What You Will Do

  • Lead, motivate and grow the Sophos Email and Phish Threat product engineering teams
  • Recruit, hire and retain top technical talent
  • A great understanding of technologies and a proven track record of leading full stack teams in developing cloud applications and features.
  • A strong interest in customer problems and how to solve them.
  • Understand the common standards/processes/tools and the ability to leverage them where possible.
  • Constantly improve our engineering processes, team practices and predictability and effective at reaching out in real-time to overcome roadblocks.
  • Lead 1-2 high functional Agile Scrum teams to higher levels of performance and implement effective and efficient project management processes.

 

What You Will Bring

  • Manage agile teams with a proven track record of building high performing teams.
  • Deep knowledge of JAVA, JUnit, Spring, Java Web Services, Json, Java Spring Framework and modern JS Frameworks, Groovy, RESTful Services
  • Past record of working with cloud providers such as Amazon, Google, MS Azure for engineering deployments
  • Proven competence in hiring and managing high quality individual contributors. Components of managing include attracting top caliber people.
  • 7+ years of experience in development organizations, with at least 1-2 years as a Team lead in a small to medium-sized technology company.
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as good interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Experience in tracking and reporting teams’ progress to senior management over purposeful metrics.
