Role Summary

The Perl Engineer will play a key role in the Sophos development process by facilitating, managing, communicating and automating tasks for the deployment and configuration of continuous feature builds for multiple development teams. By leveraging knowledge and expertise in the Perl development for email security products. The role revolves around migration of Perl version, handle incompatibilities, do build, packaging, installation, tests of the product, document and own it. As a member of the Sophos MSG engineering team, you will work closely with software engineers, architects, product management and others to design, build and maintain the Sophos products.

 

What You Will Do

  • Should analyze and develop or write programs and/or modules using Perl
  • Should investigate and solve issues independently
  • Experienced in development and maintenance of programs in Perl
  • Good knowledge of Object-Oriented Concepts
  • Writing unit tests and working with test automation engineers to produce fully tested solutions
  • Shipping robust software for mission-critical problems
  • The role will involve incorporating enhancements via coding, perform data changes and support the core client platforms
  • Have a great attention to detail
  • Should be comfortable to look after the systems and maintain it
  • Take full responsibility to run the migration of systems
  • Escalate to stakeholders when necessary
  • Be self-driven and work with little supervision towards a common team and company purpose

 

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum four years of hands-on experience in Object Oriented Perl (writing/maintaining small Perl script does not count)
  • Perl makefiles, XS (Perl foreign function interface)
  • Good exposure to Linux environment and commands
  • Experience working with Regexes
