Job Purpose

Network DevOPs admin to join a highly skilled global team within a technically challenging role.

We are looking for candidates who have experience of IT DevOps implementations, best practices, and processes to speed up and automate aspects of IT tasks and changes using scripting. With some experience of networks or firewall, focusing primarily on the IT DevOps opportunities, providing best practice implementation and management, developing automation solutions within the global team.

This role will suit a candidate who would like to work in a key role, with continual learning opportunities within a supportive and diverse environment. This role is key to improving working practice within IT and delivering results through automation, you will be able to work with the IT team to understand and take the best course of action to build solutions to resolve any opportunity which arises.

 

Main Duties

  • Have a good understand of IT DevOps best practice, to build and setup new development tools and infrastructure
  • Develop code and documentation as directed to deliver against specified timescales, quality, coding standards and acceptance criteria to ensure definition of done is met
  • Work closely within the networking team, with you understanding the concept of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and seek to automate wherever possible
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the system you are working on
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with team members, participate in training and knowledge transfer
  • Escalate any problems and exceptions that need to be addressed to the senior managers in a timely manner
  • Work daily to add / remove firewall hardware and configurations as part of the ITIL change process.
  • Develop skills via self-study or classes to enhance performance

 

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Hands on experience with Python, Chef or Terraform scripting - Provide specific examples
  • Experience using dev tools - Provide specific examples
  • Experience with automating against IT / Network infrastructure
  • You have good knowledge of Linux OS, Networking, routing, switching
  • Installation, configuration, management of a DevOPs environment
  • Implementation of best practice and scripted management of networks and firewall infrastructure both on premise and cloud base
  • Worked with or understands ITIL concepts
  • Experience of working in a process driven environment in an agile manner
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Strong communication and documentation skills along with attention to detail

  • Willing to take ownership of incidents, not only resolve them, but to prevent incidents in the future through automation
  • Work as a team within our organisation
  • Knowledge share and provide on the job training to your colleagues
  • Collaborative and communicate to colleagues with respect
  • Positive attitude and supportive of a no-blame culture where the personal drive is all about continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of Logic Monitor or equivalent monitoring systems
  • Routing, Switching
  • Cloud Infrastructure such as AWS/Azure
  • Work in a change control environment (ITIL)
