Senior QA Lead – Sophos Cloud

Job Purpose

The QA lead is embedded with the developers and automation engineers who manage their projects from inception to release. The QA lead plays a pivotal role in gathering requirements from the product owner and uses this information to develop the test plan and strategy for the team to execute against.

 

In this team you’ll collaborate with the developers on a daily basis as you monitor and report on the quality metrics throughout the duration of your project. The team work to an agile methodology, so you’ll need to be comfortable contributing to daily stand-ups and regular planning sessions where you’ll develop your test plan and prepare test cases for release testing.

 

What this role offers you

 

Each project is managed by the team from start to finish, so you’ll be able to learn and develop all QA lead responsibilities under the guidance of the department’s QA manager. You’ll learn to drive quality best practices by leading team defect triages, plan testing based on risk analysis and liaise with other feature teams QA leads to co-ordinate cross-team testing effort.  

 

Main Duties

  • Requirement gathering
    • Work with the product owners to capture and understand all project requirements
    • Specify acceptance criteria on Epics and Stories
  • Test planning and execution
    • Define the test plan throughout the project lifecycle
    • Develop test matrix that combines manual and automated test coverage and risk analysis to ensure requirements are met and tested
    • Define non-functional testing for project, including performance, scalability and fuzz testing
    • Plan internal beta testing by establishing clear entry and exit criteria
    • Write and execute manual test cases
    • Coordinate test passes by estimating effort and allocating tests to team members
  • Monitoring and reporting of quality metrics
    • Test coverage using Sonar and other tools
    • BlackDuck reporting on third party library vulnerabilities
    • Review code smells reports and track improvements
    • Defect tracking and prioritising in sprint planning 
    • Monitoring automation test run results 
    • Review project release reports to represent and explain all test activities
    • Conduct project level triage with your team and product owners

 

Skills & Experience

 

Essential

  • Previous experience as a QA engineer, testing large scale systems
  • Previous experience authoring test plans, test cases and reporting on quality metrics
  • Technically curious and enthusiastic about technology
  • High-level analytical skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with PM and developers
  • Critical thinker with a focus on customer satisfaction.

 

Desirable

  • Computer science, numerate degree or relevant experience
  • ISTQB certification
  • Experience setting up endpoint environments, installing software
  • previous scripting / programming experience
