Job Purpose

Senior Manager leading the Finance Sustaining and Support team is a critical position supporting the Global Finance and Accounting organizations. The individual in this role manages a team responsible for execution of the finance system close, facilitates issue and crisis management, supports the finance organization in establishing priorities, and drives the associated productivity improvements and regulatory projects as required.

A successful senior manager combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to enable compliant, operationally efficient financial solutions, systems and processes. The ideal candidate also has experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, with strong verbal and written communications skills to ensure alignment and visibility across the finance functions and IT.

In supporting their finance business partners, and aligning with IT, this individual will be responsible for support of the overall management of the Global Finance and Accounting Information Systems Environments, the direction and coordination of productivity and regulatory projects, including the design, development, implementation, deployment and maintenance of the multiple finance-related systems including SAP and other satellite systems.

 

This role will coordinate resources (internal, contractors and third-party vendors) for the execution of finance projects which will include both technical implementation and business process reengineering efforts. The senior manager will have frequent and direct contact with all levels of Finance, Accounting and IT functions.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand a complex system architecture in which data flows between interconnected systems, managed by different teams.
  • Strong finance functional expertise, business process knowledge and an understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Exceptional verbal & written communication skills required –includes the capability to listen to the needs of others, research and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner and present findings as well as recommendations, in both oral and written presentations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience applying these skills to resolve operational accounting process and system issues.
  • Customer focus and the ability to effectively collaborate in a cross-functional and matrix environment.
  • Strong project management skills and an ability to work well within all levels of an organization.
  • Superb attention to detail and ability to deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Comfort with initiating and responding to change; demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement process/system improvements.

Related Experience And Educational Requirements

  • Proven experience of working in previous finance sustaining roles with leadership experience managing both finance and System projects as well as cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of the critical finance business processes around Procurement to Payment, Order to Cash, Inventory to COGS, Fixed Assets, Record to Report and Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to both lead and participate in change
  • SAP experience
  • Project management experience with business process reengineering efforts specific to Finance and Accounting including training, user adoption & organizational change management
  • Ability to set priorities and ensure on time completion of deadline-driven task associated with month end and quarter end close cycles
  • Possess good business acumen and be able to lead cross-functional discussions combined with providing accounting operation recommendations to management based on various accounting interpretations for a given transaction
  • Experience working in a global environment and understanding of regulatory, language, compliance and privacy requirements
  • Acquisition integration experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems or equivalent preferred
