Senior Financial Analyst


We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our experienced Commercial Finance team. The role will initially focus on process improvement, automation, and development of the current financial reporting suite while also taking ownership of a number of day-to-day activities in the Commercial Finance team. These will include areas of month-end close and monthly reporting.


Over the longer term the role will become a go-to person for projects involving the introduction of new reporting, and for building self-service reporting in Power BI.


As a member of the FP&A team you will be providing Finance support to the Senior Management Team and will prepare commercially-focused financial analysis to support understanding of Sophos results and to aid strategic decision-making.


The role will work very closely with the Business Intelligence team and with Sales, Sales Operations, Product Teams, and other areas of Finance.


Key Responsibilities



  • Driving transition of Microsoft Excel reporting to Power BI
  • Financial modelling to support Commercial decision-making
  • Develop and maintain a reporting tool for stock rotation
  • Simplification and automation of reporting
  • Support project to deliver new reporting on Annual Recurring Revenue Develop early renewals reporting
  • Expand customer and cross-sell reporting
  • System migration testing (including data reconciliations of large volumes of data)


Monthly reporting:

  • Provision of a detailed suite of financial metrics / KPIs
  • Assist with monthly close process for billings
  • Assist in ad-hoc reporting activities as required



  • Ownership of stock return approval process
  • Drive the provision and communication of self-service reporting by the business, including becoming a super-user of our CRM and Business Intelligence systems
  • Become a subject matter expert on subscription-based metrics, including Annual Contract Value (ACV) and Renewal Book / Available to Renew subscription base
  • Enhance company understanding of Available To Renew (subscription base) data
  • Enhance company understanding of Annual Recurring Revenue metric
  • Support other members of the wider FP&A function in building reports and accessing finance data, using where appropriate:
    • The BI cube environment using pivot tables and cube (OLAP) formula
    • Salesforce reports
    • SAP reports
    • Power BI reports


Skill and Experience Required




  • Degree-educated
  • Holder of a Professional Accountancy Qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
  • Highly numerate
  • Strong analytics and financial skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel user
  • Comfortable working with Big Data
  • Business Intelligence experience (preferably Power BI)
  • Able to handle conflicting priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills required; able to develop working relationships outside of Finance
  • Working pattern flexibility at certain times of the month




  • Experience of using Power BI as a reporting tool
  • Experience of working in a software or subscription company
  • Experience of working in the Commercial Finance / FP&A team of a publicly-listed or private-equity owned company
  • SAP experience
  • Salesforce experience
