Job Purpose

The Sales Commission Partner is primarily responsible for the accurate calculation and reporting of global sales commission plans. Assisting in preparing monthly accruals and variance reporting analysis for global sales commissions, tracking costs against forecast and billings. Responsibilities include building effecting working relationships with all sales commission partners to clearly define and manage the commissions processes and share relevant information to ensure smooth operation. Working closely with Commercial Finance and Sales Operations to implement the approved annual Quota Stack ensuring all commission targets are accurately recorded and processed correctly each month.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build effective relationships with all sales commission partners e.g. Sales & Sales Management, Sales Operations, HR, Payroll and Commercial Finance
  • Responsible for setting up and running the billings reports that drive the sales commission calculations
  • Responsible for updating and refreshing all sales commission plans according to month end close timetable
  • Ownership of accurate calculation of sales commission plans and circulating securely to sales management
  • Ensure enhanced sales commission kicker rate payments are calculated accurately and according to terms
  • Responsible for timely and effective communication of monthly commission plan details to sales management
  • Ensuring all change notifications are reviewed, approved and subsequent calculations are updated accordingly
  • Responsible for finalising the sales commission calculations and providing a variance analysis against the month end accrual
  • Responsible for reporting the sales commission payment accurately to each regional payroll according to payroll deadline dates
  • Ownership of responding timely and concisely to all sales commission communications throughout the month, ensuring proactive communications at all times
  • Proactive communication with HR to ensure all global OTC remuneration changes are provided to the commissions team and updated to sales commission plans.  
  • Adhering to and following all controls, processes and procedures in place to accurately and effectively manage the sales commission calculations
  • Maintain up to date process documentation, making systems improvements and process changes to improve efficiency
  • Assistance with ensuring new FY Quota Stacks are achievable to calculate and the target kicker rates are clearly understood
  • Assistance setting up annual global commission plans for every region, preparing an individual sales plan for every representative accurately recording their commission targets
  • Assistance with the calculation of commission kicker rate accruals and analysis for monthly/quarterly/annual commissions
  • Assistance to explain any variances to Plan/Forecast on Sales Commissions, investigating variances and justifying where applicable to Global Projects Financial Accountant
  • Support in providing sales commission reports and analysis to EMEA Controller
  • Support other business functions in analysis of data, in particular; Commercial Finance, Sales and Sales Operations
  • Work on Finance team projects, taking a proactive role in specifying, testing and supporting new initiatives such as development and documentation of new systems, processes and internal controls


Skills & Experience

  • Financial Accounting skills
  • Improving Processes, Procedures and Controls
  • Working with a highly sales driven and fast-moving culture
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot, lookups)
  • Proven accounting skills, especially within transactional processes and reconciliation
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working within a software company, ideally a global organisation
  • Worked as part of a global Finance organisation supporting global actions and initiatives
  • Working with SAP / ERP systems
  • AAT Qualified / part qualified or QBE
  • Degree or equivalent in a Finance / Business related subject
