Job Purpose

This role provides the opportunity to work as a QA Engineer, within an open and collaborative Agile environment as part of a team that develops cloud management for Sophos’ endpoint security products, all implemented in our Sophos Central platform.  In this role you will be responsible for developing automated tests for new features developed within the team. You will also need to work with Developers and QA Leads to help define test coverage, as well as writing and running manual test cases.

We follow an Agile methodology with high quality as the key release criteria. This role will help guide testing, best practices and enforce quality within the team, and will deliver and drive project-based test approaches and plans.

 

Main Duties

  • Define Test scenarios and Test cases to ensure quality of the teams deliverables
  • Writing automated functional tests to prove acceptance criteria have been met
  • Perform analysis of product and business risks to ensure the test coverage is appropriate
  • Define test coverage for new features and agree acceptance criteria with developers
  • Help to clarify, breakdown and estimate features and user stories;
  • Execute tests and validate that features have met acceptance criteria
  • Contribute to daily stand-ups, kick-offs, collaborative estimation and retrospective meetings
  • Other duties and responsibilities as directed

Essential:

Experience of defining test coverage for enterprise applications;

Experience of building automated functional tests;

Experience using C#, Python or another scripting language;

Experience of testing software on Microsoft Windows platforms;

Effective communication with different types of audience;

Ability to learn new skills quickly and apply them to the role;

Analytical with an eye for detail, a natural problem solver with a continuous improvement ethos;

Self-organizing and driving to deliver quality in line with project objectives;

Interpersonal communication style and enjoys working with others;

BSc in Computing or other numerate discipline, or equivalent experience;

 

Desirable:

Experience of working in an Agile development environment;

ISTQB Foundation Level;
