Job Purpose

 

Sophos is seeking an outstanding Software Test Automation Engineer to join our development team and play a major role improving the quality and the resilience of our future products and services.

 

You’ll join our development team of highly motivated engineers working on the continued development of our cloud-based management console, Sophos Central, to provide future integrations for our cutting-edge endpoint security and server protection products, while enjoying the welcoming and friendly atmosphere within the team.

 

You will be an integral part of the team, promoting test automation and collaborating with software engineers and QA across the software development lifecycle

 

you will provide guidelines to the team regarding the coverage, the scenarios to test and the appropriate type of automated tests to suit the different scenarios: unit tests, integration tests, contract tests, UI only tests, end to end tests, etc.

You will also be responsible for implementing new tests written in a variety of languages and frameworks as well as for monitoring and maintaining existing tests.

Main Duties

  • Analyse and understand requirements to decide on the test automation strategy.
  • Partner effectively with developers to split testing efforts.
  • Implement new tests written in a variety of languages and frameworks: Java, Groovy, JavaScript/Typescrypt, Protractor, Jasmine.
  • Daily monitor test results.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining failing tests.
  • Updating and organizing our automated test suites.
  • Running regression tests before deploying microservices into Production.
  • Working closely with developers and other automation testers to continually improve the quality of our test frameworks.

 

 

 

 

 

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of Java
  • Experience with at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, Groovy, Python, Bash
  • Exposure to at least one software test automation framework (Selenium, Cucumber, Protractor, Jasmine)
  • Exposure to CI tools (Jenkins, Git, Sonar)
  • Experience of writing automation tests for RESTful APIs and front end UIs
  • Good knowledge of test automation practices
  • Experience with BDD and TDD and agile development methodologies
  • Soft skills: Good communicator, ‘can do’ attitude and a team player

 

Desirable:

  • Experience with SQL and NonSQL databases
  • Exposure to microservices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Jira
