Job Purpose


As a security company, Sophos takes its own security very importantly and has an internal IT Security team which focuses on protecting Sophos’ own systems and infrastructure.


Sophos runs its own security on Sophos. This role is for a Sophos product specialist working within the security team to help us develop a best-practice implementation of our own products. The role will involve working closely with engineering and product management to deploy & configure the latest versions of Sophos products, often before they are available to customers and provide functional and usability feedback to improve product acceptance in the market 


Main Duties 


As part of this role you will need to:


  • Lead:
    • Enhancing Sophos’ security defences with Sophos products.
    • Implementing new versions of Sophos software in the Sophos production environment.
    • Tracking identified product bugs and feature requests.
    • Product capability & performance reviews with the product management & engineering teams.
    • Effective product feedback to simplify and improve product deployment; if it’s not simple it needs improving.
    • Provide product feedback on effectiveness and usability within a real world IT process driven environment.
    • Integration of Sophos Product API’s with Security team tooling.
    • Conduct periodic Sophos product policy reviews to ensure best practice is being met.
    • Identify gaps in product feature use and implement as appropriate.


 Contribute towards:

    • A best-practice security architecture utilising Sophos products.
    • The development of KBs and whitepapers to help customers deploy Sophos products according to best-practice.
    • Configuration, monitoring & deployment tools with the ultimate goal of integrating back into the product.
    • Sophos product implementation guidance & advice to colleagues across both IT and the wider business.
    • Promotion of global knowledge and awareness of the best use of Sophos products across the company.
    • Contribute to feature requests to improve effectiveness and ease of use of Sophos products and their integration. 



Skills and Experience




  • Experience implementing endpoint security products.
  • System administration experience (Windows/Mac/Linux clients).
  • Cross-platform knowledge of Enterprise IT infrastructure (Networking, Operating Systems, Databases, Web, etc). 
  • Experience of deploying software across an enterprise environment. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving company environment.




  • Knowledge of Sophos products.
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM.
  • Experience with SIEM products and other security monitoring tools.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of computer security threats and trends. 
  • Scripting ability (Powershell/Bash/Python/Go).
