Job Purpose

 

As a member of the Commercial Finance team you will assist with day-to-day operational tasks to help deliver the team objectives. The role will be focused on providing support to the wider Finance Business Partner team, assisting with analysis, reporting and month-end close.

 

Study for a professional qualification is available and the post holder will be encouraged to take on additional responsibilities as experience and department requirements allow. During the period up to qualification you should expect to gain experience working in various disciplines of the Commercial finance function. These may include:

  • Planning and Forecasting
  • Business Partnering
  • Business Intelligence reporting
  • Management Accounts
  • Analysis and financial modelling projects

 

Main Duties

 

Headcount Tracking

 

  • Track actual headcount versus Plan and Forecast for the Group; including
    • Number of heads in the business versus Plan/forecast
    • Total cost of heads in the business versus Plan
    • Forecast headcount and associated costs for future periods
    • Identify issues with headcount processes and work with relevant teams to resolve
  • Support Business Partner team with headcount scenario modelling and cost impact
  • Assist with inputting headcount details into the Planning systems
  • Maintain headcount per office location reporting
  • Present analysis to Finance and HR Business Partners on a monthly basis

 

Business Partnering Support

  • Provide Finance support to the wider Business Partner team, some examples to include:
    • Reporting of Travel and Entertainment by function, cost centres and employee
    • Reporting of Purchase orders raised and expected receipt of goods and services
    • Input of Plan and Forecast data into the Planning system
  • Variance analysis of actual expenses versus Plan
  • Preparing detailed analysis of expenses by Supplier/Project
  • Assist with other Business Partnering activities in relation to functional cost centres supported by other team members
  • Work closely with Business Partners to identify areas of reporting to centralize in Business Partner Support team
  • Contribute as required to teams meeting

 

Reporting

  • Support other members of the team and the wider Group finance function in building reports and accessing finance data, using where appropriate:
    • The BI cube environment using pivot tables and cube (OLAP) formula
    • Salesforce reports
    • SAP reports
  • Provide adhoc analysis and reporting to the Business Partner team
  • Assist with testing in relation to system changes or upgrades

 

Oganisation Responsibility

 

  • Reports to the Business Partner Support Manager

 

Special Conditions

 

  • Holiday restrictions may apply at month end and Bank Holidays. May be required to work between Christmas and New Year. Flexibility required to work extra hours at short notice

  • Willingness to complete a Professional Accountancy Qualification]
  • Degree, ideally in a Finance/ Business-related subject
