Job Purpose

The Regional Financial Controller (EMEA REGION) will report to the Group Financial Controller and will have key responsibility for all aspects of accounting for the EMEA region operations. This covers the management and leadership for the EMEA Centralised Payroll function and for all the legal entity accounting operations across EMEA region within UK and Ireland, Nordics, Hungary, DACH and WER. Included are all elements of the finance functions covering general accounting, balance sheet control, annual audits and preparation of local statutory accounts. You will also be responsible for month end processes, variance analysis and ensuring timely and accurate reporting for all statutory returns including VAT, WHT, CIT and local statistics. You will manage the Regional Controllers based in locations across the EMEA region and build positive and productive working relationships with the outsourced centralised functions for Purchasing, AR and AP, ensuring service level standards are delivered. Excellent people management and leadership skills are essential. In addition, you will be expected to develop strong working relationships with the business and other back office departments.


Main Duties

Financial Control:

  • Responsible for all EMEA Region accounting functions and the month end closing procedures to strict close deadlines
  • Ownership of completeness and accuracy of financial records on a timely basis, ensuring the smooth operation, following compliant and best practice processes, for all aspects of general accounting across local GAAP and group reporting standards
  • Co-ordinate detailed monthly cash flow reporting and ensure that corporate treasury policy is followed throughout
  • Responsible for financial management reporting of actuals and analysis for variances to plan/forecast on costs and billings.
  • Ownership and review of balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis. Prepare all information for review with Group Financial Controller periodically – at least on a bi-annual basis
  • Manage Sales tax (VAT), WHT, all indirect and corporate income tax returns ensuring that reporting deadlines for filings and payments are met and all tax questionnaires are completed accurately on time
  • Ensure all statutory reporting and all relevant filings are met, including all government and local reporting requirements filed on a timely basis, being up to date with latest regulatory requirements (i.e. electronic reporting)
  • Responsible for timely and accurate local audits, being the key contact for local auditors during audit process.
  • Ensure compliance to all internal policies and controls (e.g. expenses, travel policy etc), providing review and sign-off, also helping develop these policies over time
  • Review the formulation of the budget, providing insight and data to commercial finance business partners.
  • Support local management teams to drive results and constantly improve operational performance
  • Key contributor for identifying and delivering financial change, system and process improvement initiatives both within the direct team, across the Group finance function and with other key departments.

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Manage team and individual performance and productivity. Regularly evaluate individual employee job performance through 1 on 1 meetings, providing constructive suggestions for improvement and rewarding accomplishments.
  • Ensure that formal staff performance reviews for all team members are conducted according to HR guidelines (biannual basis) with supplementary reviews, including the talent audits, as required (including direct and indirect reports).
  • Identify the future needs of the team and ensure that individuals receive the development and coaching they need, identifying and addressing poor performance and attendance


Skills & Experience


  • Regulatory and compliance matters from a financial perspective
  • Working with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Practical long-term experience of all aspects of the month end and annual closing accounting and planning processes
  • Improving processes and controls
  • Management of the functions of financial control, accounting, payroll, management and financial reporting
  • Familiar with corporation tax and VAT filing requirements across the region
  • Practical and recent hands-on experience of all aspects of the month end accounting and planning processes
  • People management skills
  • Working with a highly sales driven and fast-moving culture
  • Accounting qualification- ACA, ACCA equivalent
  • Management / Leadership training


  • Understanding of IFRS accounting practices and Local GAAP knowledge across the region
  • Working within a software company, ideally a global organisation supporting global actions and initiatives
  • Working on Financial systems projects/ the implementation of Financial systems
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
